Alumni
Northern Illinois Leadership Seminar maintains an active alumni
program with over 400 participants. In addition to supporting the
Annual Leadership Seminar, our alumni are challenged by contributing
100 hours of service within their communities every year.
Throughout the year, alumni participate in both social and coordinated
community service events.

America's Promise
General Powell served as chairman of the 1997 Presidents' Summit
for America's Future, the founding event of America's
Promise - The Alliance for Youth. The Summit brought together
organizations and individuals from the private, public and non-profit
sectors in an effort to aid our nation's youth.
America's Promise has created a diverse and growing Alliance of
more than 400 national organizations called Partners which make
large-scale national commitments to fulfill one or more of the Five
Promises, and more than 400 local efforts involving community and
state partners across the nation which have united to fulfill the
Five Promises.
NILS is asking the sophomores who attend to undertake
this commitment to provide a minimum of 100 hours of community service
following the seminar. This effort will result in at least 2000
volunteer service hours each year.
To step up efforts to help young people realize the personal and
social benefits of volunteerism and service, we will give our Leaders
who have successfully completed 100 hours of service, a recognition
and rewards package.
