The Illinois Leadership Seminar is in full
swing for 2008! We are very pleased to announce that our seminar will
again be held at North Park University in Chicago. The seminar
dates are June 21-22, 2008.
The Illinois Leadership Seminars are run by
the same dedicated volunteers that have made it so successful over the
last 25 years! In order to maintain a leadership seminar that is free
to schools and their students, we are now affiliated with the NSYL
leadership seminar network. We continue to provide similar, high quality,
spirited, leadership development that has touched the lives of so many
students in the last 25 years.
During the seminar experience, many dynamic
leaders - all volunteers from the fields of business, government, and
the professions - will address numerous aspects of our changing world
and the challenges future leaders will confront. The program will not
promote any specific political party, business, religion, or way of
thinking; but it is designed to develop an awareness of present and
future issues by actively involving seminar participants in discussions
and informal debate. Students have the opportunity to ask questions of
the discussion leaders throughout the weekend, which leads to a fuller
understanding of topics presented. The program includes outstanding
speakers, entertainment, and a special closing ceremony to which your
parents are invited.
Students are also asked to become part of
NILS's commitment to "Leadership for Service." By undertaking a
community service project(s) involving at least 100 hours, you'll have
the opportunity to join 3,000 other NILS Leaders in making a difference
in your school, community, place of worship, or other "environment" in
which you see a need.
Unique opinions and diverse peers will
challenge your student in a secure open environment monitored closely
by our coaches. Northern Illinois Leadership Seminar exists to develop
leadership characteristics in high school sophomores. Our program
allows your student to interact with leaders in industry, government,
the arts, education and other occupations. Individuals discover their
own perspective and "right answers" at Northern Illinois Leadership
Seminar.
We focus on future leadership and
leadership in the community today. Each student is challenged to
provide 100 hours of service in the community after attending our
seminar. They are given the tools and the opportunity to take what they
have learned and be more positive role models for their peers.
